Job Description

Chateau Elan Hotel and Conference Center seeks a talented food service management professional to join us in the position of Food and Beverage Manager at our Sebring, Florida hotel.

 

Will be responsible for managing and coordinating the day-to-day activities of the culinary operations, restaurant, bar, room service and banquet events including execution, consistent high levels of quality, service and customer satisfaction in accordance with established standards of service, presentation and sanitation.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

 

  • Manage and monitor activities in the department making sure they adhere the standards of excellence.
  • Work and maintain communication with Chef and Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Understand menu prior to opening.
  • Maintain awareness of changes during service; understand timing of various items.
  • Convey any special requests to Chef and Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Knowledgeable of all dining/bar, room service and banquet menu items, garnish, contents and preparation methods.
  • Knowledgeable of the wine list, cocktails and bar.
  • Check food before serving it to the guest to ascertain that appearance, temperature and portions are correct.
  • Develop and maintain an operating budget.
  • Achievement of budgeted food sales, beverage sales, labor costs and profitability.
  • Completion of customer follow-up calls on a timely basis.
  • Analysis of food and beverage prices in relations to competition.
  • Participation and input towards food and beverage marketing activities.
  • Preparation of sales promotions and mailings.
  • Development and maintenance of all department control procedures.
  • Work closely with General Manager, Food & Beverage Manager, Chef, and Sales department
  • Act as Manager on Premise for the hotel in the absence of the General Manager.
  • Supervisory duties for the food and beverage staff.

 

Required skills/experience:

                

A minimum of 4 years’ food service management experience in a fast-paced busy environment.

 

Food Safety, ServSafe and TIPS certified preferred.

 

Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experienced in handling a wide range of administrative and guest service related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision.  This person must be exceedingly well organized and flexible. The ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role.

  • Excellent customer service skills, friendly and outgoing personality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and Point of Sales (POS)
  • Strong ability to work will with co-workers and supervisors in a team environment
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast pace environment
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and diffuse volatile situations
