Job Description

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Senior Accountant based in our corporate headquarters in Daytona Beach, FL.



The Senior Accountant will be responsible for general ledger functions, including but not limited to month end close, journal entries, general ledger research, chart of accounts maintenance and performance of consolidation activities for financial statement close. Manages fixed asset system and reconciles to the general ledger; records monthly depreciation expense and tracks capital spending. Provides reporting and documentation for external audit procedures and other regulatory compliance matters.


Duties include, but are not limited to:


Responsible for managing month end close process - prepares and posts journal entries, prepares balance sheet account reconciliations and other analysis as assigned, researches account balances and oversees compliance of account reconciliations. Includes performing consolidation activities and elimination entries for transactions across multiple entities.


Responsible for completion of assigned month-end reporting and developing new reporting as requested.


Performs analysis and other tasks related to the preparation of financial statements for licensing trust.


Manages chart of accounts for general ledger, concur system and travel reservation system. Includes continual training on string combination guidelines and communication of updates to larger functional group.


Meets with Manager, Accounting and project managers to understand the nature of the projects and determine appropriate accounting. Also meets with tax department regularly to ensure capital reporting is accurate and compliant from tax perspective.


Prepares government census reports, Canadian HST tax returns, NY rent return and various other regulatory compliance reporting as assigned.


Assists with obtaining and reviewing required support schedules for annual audits. Responds to inquiries and audit requests as assigned.


Handles special projects, ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested. Identifies and drives improvement opportunities and works closely with Manager, Accounting to ensure improvement opportunities are implemented to provide timely and accurate information.


Travel may be required on occasion for this role.


Qualifications include the following:


Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four (4) year college or university and a minimum of five (5) years of related accounting experience and/or training.


In addition to the skills listed above, must have strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles including consolidations and eliminations. Also, must be able multi-task and work under pressure with tight deadlines. Strong organizational and time management skills are required. Must maintain a positive attitude and work ethic. This position will be required to work overtime, as needed, to meet the objectives of the position and the department.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft office products with advanced knowledge of excel is required.
