    Job Description

    Summary

    Develops custom, often complex WordPress-based solutions along with general PHP framework-based solutions.  Ideal candidate must have at least 3-5 years of experience developing WordPress or other similar CMS systems.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    Build websites using custom plugins, themes, and widgets within WordPress CMS.

     

    Develop deep understanding of existing digital platform including associated databases, data sources and dependencies, workflow, information architecture, and legacy systems currently in production.

     

    Strong ability to gather requirements and work with business users.

     

    A continued desire to innovate, learn, progress technical abilities.

     

    Develop tools and interfaces for integrating advertising technology into consumer experiences.

     

    Write PHP, HTML, CSS, NodeJS, JavaScript, and JQuery, and have an awareness of existing plugins as starting points for component development.

     

    Experience with SEO best practices

     

    Write new documentation as needed, and evaluate existing documentation for completeness and accuracy.

     

    Design and codes superior technical solutions, enforces coding standards

     

    Recognize system deficiencies and implements effective solutions

     

    Responsible for the end-user experience via the interface, sitemap, site architecture, feeds architecture and back-end code functionality

     

    Work closely with visual designers to bridge design and engineering work effort

     

    Work with the Technical Operations Team to support Live Race Events; occasional weekends on-site.

     

    Work with the Technical Operations Team to support the deployment of new releases of NASCAR.com on occasional weekday nights.

     

    Approximate travel 15% including weekends.

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering from four (4) year college or university; plus a minimum five (5) years of current Web Development experience or experience commensurate with the above requirements.
    • 3+ years experience working with WordPress at a PHP code level:
    • Knowledge of existing inbuilt WordPress functions.
    • Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented Programming, specifically using PHP
    • Creation of custom Wordpress post types.
    • Creation of plugins/widgets written to conform with Wordpress coding standards.
    • Knowledge of WordPress Network (Multisite) beneficial.
    • Minimum 5 years’ Experience developing web applications for high traffic consumer facing websites
    • Minimum 3 years experience of PHP programming, MySQL, XHTML, SCSS, Javascript
    • Experience with creating responsive websites
    • Experience with Source Control tools (SVN, GIT, etc)
    • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
